American Ash
18”W x 15.5”D x 20”H
A riff on the traditional three legged stool, this piece sits 510mm high, and is made entirely from American ash. The curved lower rails are laminated and mortised and tenoned into the legs. The triple-slotted top acts as a handle, never wavering from the sacred rule of three.
American ash trees are currently being decimated across North America by the emerald ash borer beetle—perhaps to the point of extinction within a few decades. Although the material is now widely abundant as loggers clear trees to try and stop the beetle, the wood may someday be almost unobtainable.
